Welcome to the Teachers Beach wiki, a private intranet for collaboratively archiving and sharing historical documents and images related to 290 Camino Del Mar.

Anchoring this home page is an image (right) of Ruth Mitchell's hand-drawn map of the area. The number "290" on the upper left denotes property location, while the abundant vegetation, trees, and beloved shore birds announce features that originally drew members of the Mitchell family to the place.

This wiki's three pages: Idea, House, and People are designed to share the story with members of current and future generations.

The images, documents, and recordings presented here correspond to a physical archive, with scanned image titles "e.g. 1973WilfredMitchellsMap.jpg" serving as a finding aid for locating physical documents in the archive, divided into three binders corresponding to the Idea, House, and People categories.

As a wiki, this online resource is designed to invite and organize collective authorship and editing, much in the same way that Wikipedia does (a brief video primer on how to login to Xwiki and contribute content is here). Inaccuracies and omissions can be corrected directly by contributors, with changes leaving a transparent revision log available to track editorial decisions and discussions. The wiki format also confers advantages in terms of scaling and expandability, as the basic infrastructural architecture can be easily built out as new angles and content emerge.
